Our team of volunteers represents a dynamic group of
women, including teachers, athletes, businesswomen, and mothers - all
of whom possess a great enthusiasm for helping to prepare girls for a
healthy and happy adolescence and adulthood. Volunteer opportunities
are available for coaches, assistant coaches, mentors and assistants at
our 5K race.
If you would like to get involved and help to make a difference with young girls throughout Atlanta, simply read through the volunteer roles (below), then fill out our

All new volunteers will be thoroughly screened and trained before beginning to work with our girls.
Many thanks to all our volunteer coaches! All your time, love, and energy is much appreciated
OVERVIEW: VOLUNTEER ROLES
Coaching | Program Support | Fundraising | Communications | Special Events | Race Day
PROGRAMS
Coach
GOTR Atlanta relies on volunteers to help us coach our programs. Coaching is a big commitment - 12 weeks in the spring and fall, one time per week for 1 ½ hours. Besides being role models of self-esteem and healthy living, coaches must be available after-school hours, and need to be trained in the GOTR lesson plans. Coaches work directly with the 3rd-5th grade girls - teaching them healthy habits and training them for the big 5K race!
Site Coordinator
The site coordinator is the contact person who coordinates with GOTR Atlanta and is responsible for registration and collecting program fees. This person can be a site employee or a parent.
Program Support
This committee puts together all materials used for lesson plans, as well as planning and organizing the race day experience for our girls. Working on this team is a great way to become familiar with our programs and get in on the exhilaration of the girls as they cross the finish line!
Regional Coordinator
This committee assigns one volunteer to four or five program sites that are located in a close geographic area. The Regional Coordinator acts as an extension of the Program Director and will assist them with various activities such as conducting coach training, site visits, passing out t-shirts, water bottles, etc. These volunteers must have been a coach for a minimum of two seasons and attended the GOTRI training.
MARKETING/COMMUNICATIONS
Communications Committee
This committee produces several print pieces throughout the year, including two-three newsletters, brochures, collateral materials and website content. Committee members are responsible for generating ideas and stories for all printed materials, proofreading all print pieces, securing competitive quotes for printing, securing in-kind design services and targeting lists for distribution.
FUNDRAISING
Special Events Committee
The Special Events Committee is charged with planning, staffing and executing a variety of activities throughout the year for GOTR Atlanta. In addition, this committee staffs tables at several local events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds for GOTR Atlanta.
Annual Campaign
This committee helps organize the various campaigns that GOTR participates in annually.
